Who we are

Slade Tutoring is a sole trader business providing one-to-one online Geography tuition, operated by Oliver Slade. We are the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect

• Parent or guardian: name, email address, and phone number if you give one.
• Student: first and last name, school year, exam board, and target grade.
• Lesson records: what was covered, what to work on next, and any whiteboard or annotated material produced during a lesson.
• Messages sent through the site.
• Billing: invoices and payment status. We never see or store your card number — that is handled entirely by Stripe.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We process this information to perform our contract with you: to arrange and teach lessons, record progress, communicate with you, and invoice for lessons taught. We keep basic financial records to meet our legal obligations to HMRC.

Children's information

Where a student is under 18, the account is held by, and consented to by, a parent or guardian. Parents can read every message between the tutor and their child; there is no private channel between an adult tutor and a child on this platform. Parents may request a copy or deletion of their child's information at any time.

Who else processes it

We use these services, each acting as a processor on our behalf:

• Supabase — database, accounts and file storage
• Vercel — website hosting
• Stripe — card payments (they are a controller in their own right for payment data)
• Daily — video calling
• Resend — sending emails such as lesson reminders and invoices

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

• Lesson records and messages: 2 years after your last lesson.
• Invoices and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax records.
• Enquiries that don't become lessons: 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email olly@sladetutoring.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Security

Accounts are password protected, and our database restricts every record so that families can only ever see their own. Lesson materials are stored privately and shared through short-lived links.
